Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “As someone who enjoys Kaiju movies, the Gamera collection is definitely worth picking up.” Blaine says, “nothing I’ve seen jumps out at me, but I’m definitely interested in checking out Batwoman.”
I’ve never seen Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, Hammer’s last Frankenstein film. It has a mixed reputation. Even more mixed: apparently, some Blu-Ray copies contain the movie Fat Man and Little Boy instead.
Don’t you hate it when that happens? There were serious problems when they first released Ang Lee’s Hulk in high definition. Due to a mixup in the authoring, the disks were pressed with copies of Basic Instinct instead.
I’m now imagining the notorious interview scene from Basic Instinct with the Hulk instead of Sharon Stone.
Thanks for that.
Nobody else eager for all the Flash Gordon extras? For shame!
That doesn’t really excite me, no.

I don’t know this for a fact, but I just know that Selfie Dad is the worst thing on the list.
I enjoyed Batwoman… but I think Batwoman was my least favourite part of it. I don’t think Ruby Rose did a bad job as such, and apparently she did put a huge effort in, but she just didn’t click for me.
On the other hand, Rachel Skarsten was amazing.
Funny thing — she was one of the main characters in Birds of Prey when she was a teenager.
I think I’d choose the old-timey drug exploitation double feature (She Shoulda Said “No”! / The Devil’s Sleep ) over the Christian family comedy about a dad who goes viral. But the reviews, while generally negative, say that comedian Michael Jr. is pretty good in the title role.
I’ll probably watch Deathstroke, since the DCAU movies are nearly always good (or at least watchable). Something lacking from their live action films…
