Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “If the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II this week was a 4K UHD release, I’d be picking that, but instead I’m going with 7th Voyage of Sinbad as my 4K pick. Otherwise, World War Blue has piqued my interest.” Blaine says, “I would go with either the Donner cut of Superman II or Pleasantville this week.”
I met someone who had a bit part in Superman II. For some reason that tiny bit isn’t in the Donner cut. So I basically know someone who was cut from the Donner cut.
Amazing Grace is one of those well-done British historical dramas that I lap up. It’s fascinating to watch how slavery ended in GB (and how they managed to do it without literally ripping their country apart).
Pleasantville isn’t subtle, but sometimes that’s what’s needed. I saw this in the theaters and a few teens next to us were goofy before the movie started but had that thousand-yard stare coming out. It hit them. They got the message.
