The summer blockbuster rollout starts this week, along with repackaged “complete series” TV DVDs at greatly reduced prices. (By “greatly reduced” I mean “ranging from $3.63 to $6.67 per season”. Not per episode, but per season.)

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “This week I’m going with Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple. This is one of the most fun martial arts anime series I’ve seen in quite some time. It’s definitely worth checking out.” Blaine says, “with the doorcrasher release of the highly grossing Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon hitting this week, the choice is simple: Kojak: Season Two. Who loves ya, baby?”
I’m really interested to see how Mimic is different to the original, will definitely have to rent it!
Transformers is getting a spot in the Blockbuster queue before purchase. I didn’t get to the theater for this one, but I hear it’s good.
The “dark side” of the moon bit always irks me… Yet “far side of the moon” doesn’t have the same ring to it. Just makes me think of space-themed Gary Larson cartoons. Not a bad thing, though.
Looks like this week I’ll just be getting How I Met Your Mother: Season 6. For the last few years it’s been the only sitcom we have watched. Tried a couple others here and there but they’ve either been canceled or dropped early on.
Heathers on Blu-Ray is tempting but I already have the DVD and I’m not sure if, for a movie like that, a Blu-Ray upgrade would be worth doing.
I kinda hate that I know this, but it’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, not “Dark Side of the Moon”.
I know there is no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact it’s all dark, but people do tend to mean “the side not visible from Earth”.
I thought it’s of some note that the ENTIRE 12-season collection of Married… With Children is selling for about $40. At least I think it’s the entire 12-seasons. Doesn’t say anywhere that it’s not and it’s on 32 discs.
Yes, that really is the entire MWC run for $40. There are similar price points for King of Queens and Dawson’s Creek this week. It’s completely different and cheaper packaging than the last complete series releases, but the “price per content” doesn’t get much lower without going to copyright expired material.
I haven’t seen it all, but y’know, the recent “Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated” is pretty good, with story arcs and a more developed “Scoobyverse” than past efforts.
And who doesn’t love the bewildering team of militant space hippies and mutant animals that is “The Herculoids?”
Also, Re: Loony Toons sitcom. I thought my son would have liked it as he loves the classic ones. So I tried to watch it once or twice, and at least the times I watched, it wasn’t funny. The animation was a bit interesting but the jokes/humor just weren’t there.
