Terra Nova Discussion: “Instinct” and “What Remains”

The show retains decent ratings after three weeks. What did we think of the second and third episodes?

  1. Heh, I think that you can’t be bothered to write about it tells us all we need to know. Its outdated and unimaginative bordering on teen soap opera.

  2. I really like the show so far, my wife is on board, and even my fickle daughter is coming around. One point for me is the overacting by Taylor (Stephen Lang), which I think needs to be dialed down a notch or two and redirected into another angle.
So far it seems to be following the Star Trek model, keeping the focus on the main encampment set and the characters, and eschewing expensive location shooting and special effects.
I think the relationship building is happening a little too fast.
I think I like the other Spielberg property a bit better at this point, but I’m in for the duration.

  3. Jurrasic Stargate 90210 is far too predictable. We can see the tropes coming a mile away. Still, it has more dinosaurs and ray guns, than most of the dramas on TV.

  4. Predictable tropes aside, I still giggle like a little girl every time I see a dinosaur. I also like the two male leads (and my wife likes Jason O’Marra). I enjoyed the American Life on Mars, and Quarich is why I didn’t stop watching Avatar 1-hour in, so those two cast members had me interested from the beginning.

I’m also holding out hope that the whiny teenagers get ate. The middle daughter amuses me, but the older boy and his friends need to die.
