Bamboo Blade – The Complete Series (SAVE Edition)
Demon City Shinjuku
Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season 1
Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid (Anime Classics)
Alex: I’ve previously reviewed this.
Hell Girl Two Mirrors Complete Collection
Ray Complete Collection
Alex: Spin-off from Osamu Tezuka’s legendary manga and anime, Black Jack. Ray is a girl who was raised by a group of organ-leggers who took her eyes to sell. After Black Jack restored her sight, she became a surgeon in her own right. While performing surgeries on par with the man who inspired her, she looks for the other girls raised by these criminals, and seeks to get revenge on the people who blinded her.
Robotech
Blaine: I remember this fondly from my childhood. These reviews were among some of the first I did for Bureau 42; check the archives if you’re interested.
Art House
Eclipse Series 29: Aki Kaurismaki’s Leningrad Cowboys
Kuroneko (Criterion Collection)
Biopic
Classics (Cult)
The Goonies
Classics (Traditional)
Comedy
Bad Teacher
The Best of Buster Keaton
Blaine: Anything that includes The General is a serious contender for Pick of the Week. It also includes Steambot Bill Jr, The Play House, Parlor Bedroom and Bath and Li’l Abner, going by the comments.
Best of Charlie Chaplin
Blaine: I have no idea what this includes.
Craig Ferguson: Does This Need to be Said?
Blaine: As far as I can tell, he’s one of those extremely rare late night talk show hosts who is also funny at 2:00 in the afternoon. In my experience, that can be said only of Ferguson and Johnny Carson. Plus, Ferguson did an entire special on Doctor Who. Seriously. Search on YouTube.
Tomcats
Documentary
The Captains
Blaine: This wins the “most interesting” prize of the week. William Shatner put together a documentary about Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula and Chris Pine. My greatest concern is that the average of 24 minutes per person will feel too short, and that I’d have preferred the (possibly unfundable) notion of a five part series where they get two full hours each.
Page One: Inside the New York Times
Blaine: I’m sure this is, in no way, an attempt to convince people print news is superior to and at least as relevant as news found online.
Drama
Family
Little House on the Prairie: Complete Nine Season Set
Thundercats Season One Volume One
Blaine: This is the relaunch, not the original.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
  • DVD only: Amazon
  • 40th Anniversary DVD/Blu-Ray Combo: Amazon
Fantasy
Pirates of the Caribbean: Four Movie Collection
  • Blu-Ray/Digital Combo: Amazon

Horror
Hellraiser: Revelations
House on Haunted Hill
Music / Musical
Queensryche: Mindcrime at the Moore
Live performance of the band’s “Metal Opera”, “Operation Mindcrime”.
Mystery
It Takes a Thief: The Complete Series
Blaine: I`ve heard good things about this, but haven’t seen it yet.
McMillan and Wife: Complete Series Box Set
Blaine: Frankly, I’m tempted.
Reality
The Bradys Go Bowling
Blaine: Listed purely because it exists. Before celebrities danced on TV, they bowled on TV. Stars of The Brady Bunch play against stars of The Waltons.
Kevin Smith SModimations: Season One
Kevin Smith: Too Fat for 40
Pawn Stars: Season Three
The Real L Word: Season Two
Romance
Sunday at Tiffany’s
Science Fiction
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Three
V: The Complete Second Season
Blaine: I really enjoyed the first season, and bought the second through iTunes, but haven’t started watching it yet. I hesitate only because I hear it ends on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. On the other hand, watching it involves both Morena Baccarin and Laura Vandervoort in high definition, and that’s always a good thing.
Seasonal
Dr. Seuss’s Holiday on the Loose
Includes How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat and Halloween is Grinch Night
Last of the Summer Wine: Holiday Specials 1986-89
We Wish Ewe a Merry Christmas (Shawn the Sheep)

TNA Wrestling: The Best of Jeff Hardy V.2

Blaine: They’ve done a great job with these releases, and now, they’re starting from one of the best Batman stories ever published.
Captain America / Captain America II: Death Too Soon
This is not the new one. Alex: Indeed – this is the earlier direct-to-video (if not made for TV) films starring Reb Brown (who also starred in The Howling 2 and Space Mutiny)

Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “of the titles I’ve seen, The Best of Buster Keaton edges out Robotech. My must-see list includes the rest of V, The Captains, Batman: Year One, It Takes a Thief, Too Fat For 40 and Cape Fear.” Alex says, “I’m going with Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid as my pick. I’m also putting Batman: Year One on my must-see list, along with Thundercats: Season 1, Book 1.
