A potential slayer is identified right there in Sunnydale. Anyone think they can guess who it is?

The obvious answer is Dawn, but usually they don’t go for the obvious so …?

High Point: Lost Me There…
I Thought The Opening Was Weak, But After Seeing How It Ended, I See Why It Was. It Turned Out To Be A Well Done Episode, I Thought. I Loved Xander’s Little Speach At The End.

Blah episode in a very blah season, but the entire episode was redeemed for me by Xander’s final speech. It may just end up being the highlight of the whole season for me. They should scrap the rest of the cast and just make it The Adventures of Dawny and the Xan-Man!
Xander is the man
I have loved Xander since I started working back in season 4 and he has only gotten better. Then I loved him because he was just plain funny. Since then I have realized he is the human, normal element dealing with a world beyond his control.
He has been the only normal person for so long and still he stays around, doing what he can. He has no training, no powers, no special skills that help the gang. He is just human, surrounded by giants, doing his best.
Hearing Xander’s speech to Dawn was very gratifying. It showed that Xander at least knows what he is doing and doing it by his own choice. He does it because it is the right thing to do. He does it because it must be done.
That is why Xander ROCKS. PEROID.

And though they don’t play it up nearly enough (this was a gratifying, and well-needed, place to do it), that’s why he’s probably the most exceptional of the group. All of the others have super powers, can cast spells (although he _did_ cast that one…), etc, etc. And then there’s Xander, who’s likened himself to Jimmy Olsen. And being able to step up to the plate each time, considering his abilities? Hell, that takes guts.

Agreed. Oh. And he’s saved the world once. :)
Without giving too much away
as people may not have seen it yet.. did anyone else think the logical conclusion to Xanders end speech could have easily been ‘watching’?

Xander has put thought into becoming a Watcher before, in “Restless” I believe. At the time he said it wasn’t for him.

Yeah, But It Had That Whole Jealousy Thing In It. Like He’d Wanted Giles To Ask Him To Be A Watcher, And Was Disapointed That It Wasn’t Him He’d Asked.

The conversation Buffy had on the phone with Willow said he was late checking in from getting a new potential in Shanghai. Very curious, indeed.

Where was the fifth Slayerette from last ep, the one named Chloe (played by Lalaine)? Did she die last week and I missed it?

Maybe she’s with Giles, opening doors for him and such. Dead people can’t grab doorknobs, after all. :)

I see someone has a definate idea of what happened after that nasty cliffhanger a few months back eh? ;- )

Yeah, I do. That little sound bite from Joss saying that Giles’ own show would be a bunch of ghost stories is just nagging at the back of my brain.
I also think that the thing on Angel looks enough like the wispy thing that tried to posess Willow during her spell that they might actually be the same thing. This, the physical manifestation of the First (which hadn’t been able to form previously, and therefore is not recorded anywhere) just blotted out the Sun. It seems to me to be the most logical way to tie the two shows together.
I also find myself wondering what would happen if Angelus sired a new vampire out of Faith. Imagine the damage a Slayer-turned-vamp could cause, with all of that extra power.
Sometimes I find myself thinking that, since this is likely the last season of Buffy, they should use it to launch a new spin-off. I’d watch Kennedy the Vampire Slayer in a heartbeat, especially if Willow is her Watcher, with Xander, Dawn and Wesley forming the core of a new Watcher’s Council.
Mostly I just think that I think about Buffy and Angel far too much.

I, too, have suspected something along this line. True to a good story teller that incites our interest the question hangs unanswered. Kudos once again to the writers or whomever guides the story’s overall vision. Wheton himself?
Once again I enjoyed another story of BTVS. Dawn being the potential slayer seemed probable. I enjoyed the nobility in the character when she realized the truth of the matter and did what she had to. Xanders speech at the end brought to light of the connection the two shared; they were both dwarfed by the superpowers, yet did their normal best to serve the good.
If and when this series ends will be a sad day for me. It is one of the few shows in my lifetime I could say I really have been consistanly entertained.
