Disney + Jamie Foxx + “Pale Horse” = ???

PerlStalker writes, Sci-Fi Wire has astory that states that Disney has aquired the rights to “On a Pale Horse” produced by and starring Jamie Foxx.
I really liked the books and am glad to see them put on film, but I can’t see how Jamie Foxx can be good for them.
Those of you who don’t remember Jamie Foxx can find his IMDB page here.

  1. one of the best books
On a Pale Horse is a great book. “The man who shot death” Although I never pictured Jamie Foxx for the lead role. I hope disney pawns it off to its subsidiaries so its not a cartoon or PG. It could be a fine movie.

I agree. I think that it would make an excellent PG-13 flick. (There’s really no reason for it to be R.) I just don’t see Jamie Foxx doing anything good with this story. Perhaps he’s going for a change from the (IMHO) stupid comedy that he’s done in the past.

I wrote Piers Anthony at his website hipiers.com and expressed my dismay at who they had put in the lead role. While he didn’t flame their choice, he did let me know that in the book to movie transition, the writers usually have to just “Take the money and RUN!!”. I’m sure the movie would be so much better if they just play it as written in the book (See LOTR) but they will probably play it as a comedy. And ruin it.
