John Doe Discussion – “Ashes To Ashes”

If you don’t watch John Doe on Fox, you’ll probably get this episode tonight. If you watch on Fox, you’ll probably see it next week. The episode originally scheduled for next week was canned indefinitely, as it dealt with the death of an astronaut as a result of a government conspiracy. I don’t know what Fox plans to air tonight, but I’m hoping for one of those three Firefly episodes we haven’t seen yet.

  1. Ashes to Ashes – cancelled..
I heard from someone who read the synopsis in TV Guide that the episode’s content seemed..inappropriate. How did you find out what you did about the decision? I was really bummed to find that it wasn’t coming on. I hope the episode isn’t too crucial to the show’s direction – from what I remember of the preview, it looked to be an important one as far as John Doe’s origin/identity is concerned. I hope the writers aren’t screwed by happenstance!

Fox announced that they wouldn’t be airing the episode planned for next week because of the content. The content itself can be found on this Episode Guides listing, but I’d be wary of that, since it’s loaded with spoilers. Ashes to Ashes has no content issues as Illegal Alien did, but they seem to want John Doe to run later in sweeps rather than sooner, so they’ve postponed this week’s episode. I watch John Doe on A Channel, and they’re still advertising John Doe for tonight, so I’ll watch it and see which episode it is. (I haven’t watched it since they cancelled Firefly, though, so if it’s a recent rerun I might not notice.)

  2. What They’re Showing On Fox Instead
    “Fastlane.” –shudder–

It’s certainly not the way for Fox to get my non-Nielson eyes…on my ReplayTV…where I skip all the commercials…and probably hasten the eventual extinction of free commercial television.

Then again, I did catch a bit of a Fastlane commercial a week or so ago that intimated some girl-girl action with Tiffani Thiessen (sp?). Did that episode already air? ;)
