Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “I haven’t seen any of this week’s releases recently (I watched Jem and Father Dowling in their original runs) but The Saphead and Chariots of Fire have been on my must see list for a while.” Alex says, “Butterfly Swords will be going into my Netflix queue in the future.”
We have a review of Comic-Con Episode IV, Chariots of Fire, while not a Bureau-review sort of film, should definitely be seen, and Twins of Evil is a prequel of sorts to The Vampire Lovers, though allegedly not as good and with more gratuitous nudity.
We’ll see if a new generation discovers the creaky wonders of Dark Shadows. There seems to be some controversy over this “Deluxe Edition” being almost identical to the “Limited Edition” that they charged more for awhile back.
Frequency was decent, though the usual communicating-across-time paradox debates are always present. If I did not already own the DVD, I’d probably be getting the Blu-Ray eventually.
I do want to see American Reunion, as I did enjoy the first movies (With the original cast), whereas the later ones they merely slapped the names on were not good at all.
The first and third American Pies were good, and the middle one was passable, and I never saw more than ten min. of the “American Pie Presents a Bunch of Third-rate Actors in a Crappy Knock-off” ones.
So when I heard they were doing a Reunion, I immediately marked it for future rental.
A newish Michelle Yeoh movie? I am curious. However, anything “recent” should be out on blu-ray. YES I’M A SNOB.
What’s the deal with Warehouse 13? When I had cable I used to always run across it when flipping channels, but I never sat down to give it a chance. Looked kinda low budget?
