Firefly Actors find other work

Collecting tidbits announced over the last few weeks: Nathan Fillion, who played captain Mal Reynolds on Firefly, has signed on for a recurring role on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Gina Torres, who played the second in command on Firefly, has signed on for a recurring role on Angel. Finally, Alan Tudyk, who played the pilot on Firefly, has been cast in a film adaptation of Asimov’s I, Robot.

  1. Small clarifications

    1. Mal will be playing a preacher named Caleb in the last 5 episodes of Buffy. I believe he’s also got a show on one of the networks.
    2. Zoe will be “The Big Bad” for this season of Angel, which is supposed to highlight a drastic change for the show’s future direction.
    3. Wash will be playing a role similar to the guy who did Gollum in LOTR:TTT – he won’t be in the movie proper, but a CGI’d version of him will.

Glad to see them getting work, though sad to see the crew disbanded.

  2. Other Tidbits…
Nathan is gonna be a fisherman on an NBC comedy called Alligator Point which is a Cheers-type show in a Florida oyster bar. Everybody on the Firefly board is monitoring this site for tickets to the pilot taping, which should be coming up soon. Hey, don’t give up the ship – er, boat; there’s still strong rumors floating around that a Fox movie deal for FF is gonna be announced in March…

  3. Mutant Enemy
Hmmm…seems Mutant Enemy is keeping tabs on their actors ;- )

There are still, what, 2 or 3 unaired Firefly shows though…what the hell is Fox waiting for?

Wish I knew, too. 3 Eps done, although I believe I saw something recently that said they were still editing them.

Anyone know if the movie deal is a TV thing or a movie thing? It’d be nice to see the occasional movie (ala Pretender on TNT), but considering the way the show flowed, it seems like it’d be too rushed. Anyhow, here’s hoping.
