When Worlds Collide

I don’t know if this guy is serious– he seems to be– but he has an entire website dedicated to the belief that “Planet X” is about to pass close by, causing untold problems.

This leads to a possible question for the assembled:

Which old SF flick would you like to live through? Why? How would we cope?

My General Relativity prof once told me that the best thing about researching G.R. is that the math scares away the crackpots.

The site is a hoax for The Core, previously known as Armageddon and any other number of Hollywood doomsday movies where the dashing hero and/or heroine save the day by blowing up a bomb.

    “Doc, can you cure me?”

“I’m sorry, but this is a terminal disease.”

In walks renegade doctor, “But I can save you. It will only cost the US Goverment several hundred million, billion, gazillion dollars and involve a really, really big nuclear bomb. It’ll cost the lives of almost everyone I hold dear, except this babe with whom my feelings are a no-no. Oh, and we’ll have it all done by next week so I can get on the talk show circuit ASAP.”

In walks Goverment stooge with a check, “Dear God man, do you have any idea what you’re saying? Is it true?”, hands the check to renegade doc and walks off.

Sorry. Gotta go. Got a script to rip off, er, write and sell to some idiots, er, executives in Hollywood.

I didn’t know we had any Enterprise writers frequenting the site.

      *Grin*
