NaNoWriMo 2012

Who wants in?

For the uninitiated, NaNoWriMo is short for “National Novel Writing Month.” The goal is to get people writing. Always wanted to write a book? November is your chance to do it. Here’s the kicker: It’s 50,000 in 30 days. 1667 words per day. No mean feat.

Now this book isn’t going to be publisher ready on December 1st. It’ll be too short (most publishing houses want at least 70,000 words before they’ll consider it), but it’s a start. After you get your 50K word story down, you can begin the rewrite and editing process.

I’ve tried it a few times in the past, but my November has always been too busy. This year, I aim to change that. I (and anyone else on Bureau 42 wants to join me) will be setting out on November 1st to get a novel down on paper.

I have a dream…and an outline.

If you’re interested in joining in, check out NaNoWriMo.org and sign up. You can follow along with me at my site, TheVoicesInMyHead.com. If you do decide to join in, let us all know in the comments. One of the things they say leads to success in this endeavor is support and community.

Happy writing!

  1. My wife has done NaNoWriMo the last three years and has loved it. I don’t think our house could survive the both of us trying to do it. :-)

That said, I do need to finish up the new edition of the book I did co-write… It’s not selling as well as it used to since it’s not about a current software version, need to keep those nice royalty checks coming!
