Weekly New Releases – November 6, 2012

The quality pre-Christmas releases continue. Alternatively, we still see borders even with border=”0″ in our HTML table definition. Anyone have any ideas about that?

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “RvBX: Ten Years of Red Vs. Blue sounds particularly interesting. While I haven’t seen all of RvB, I have seen the first couple years, and I enjoyed them immensely.” Blaine says, “Rashomon trumps even The Amazing Spider-Man.”

  1. Looks like you’ve got a border set in a stylesheet somewhere. Firebug is sulking for some reason or I’d be able to tell you where, but it shows border-right-width and border-bottom-width with non-zero widths for the TH tags at least.

    • Ah, that’s better. Line 352 of style.css defines a border for “.entry td” and just before is one for th.

  2. Like Vulch says, I’m fairly sure there’s a WordPress theme CSS thing enforcing the border. You’ll have to define a new table, or tr or td style in CSS. I don’t know if the theme you’re using allows that directly or if you’ll have to just throw a style definition in with the HTML and hope for the best.

  3. Locke the Superman: Anime film from the mid-1980s about an immortal psychic in the future fighting off an attempt to take over the world.

So…. Not about an alien foundling, raised by a rural salt-of-the-earth couple in the 1600s, who grows up to be a super-philosopher and champion of classical liberalism?

  4. For the Universal 100th Anniversary Collection, this link lists the titles. They are:

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
    Dracula (1931)
    Buck Privates (1941)
    Pillow Talk (1959)
    Spartacus (1960)
    To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
    The Birds (1963)
    American Graffiti (1973)
    The Sting (1973)
    Jaws (1975)
    National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978)
    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
    Scarface (1983)
    The Breakfast Club (1985)
    Back to the Future (1985)
    Out of Africa (1985)
    Field of Dreams (1989)
    Do the Right Thing (1989)
    Jurassic Park (1993)
Schindler’s List (1993) (DVD Collection only)
    Apollo 13 (1995)
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
    The Bourne Identity (2002)
    Mamma Mia! The Movie (2008)
    Despicable Me (2010)

And the Blu-ray version will also have this one:

Dracula Spanish (1931) (Blu-ray Collection only)

  5. Wow, I can’t believe Red vs Blue has survived 10 years. It’s the first machinima(god I hate that term) that made me consider something like that was worth while and could be successful in “mainstream” media.

Those Rooster Teeth guys have spun off a very enteratining website with many variety of web shows. Great to see some early(ish) internet stuff be so successful.
