Alias Discussion: Countdown (new)

the first new Alias since I’ve been back from my honeymoon. Yay!

I’m hoping reading the synopsis of the one I MISSED over the honeymoon (was it worth it? not having seen the episode, I’ll have to say “yes”. I’m 99% sure I’m right. (wink)) will be enough to have kept me up to date…

  1. wow….
I can’t wait for next week – two part two hour season finale…and it should be pretty incredible. they’ve got at LEAST one more season for this show…and there was an amazing (as in “THAT was an apocalyptic event?”) “apocalyptic event” shown last night considered on par with the start of WWII, etc. I’m hooked. but then, I already was.

Amazing isn’t it? the writers on this show REALLY know what they’re doing. When the time passed I realized that the monk handing Sloan the scroll WAS the event… I freaked.

That and there is a bigger man than Sloan… I mean, come on! Sloan is the arch-villian and there’s a guy who sent him on a search? holy crap.

The heart thing was cool, left some interesting questions, but it’s not as cool as the event…

      I love this show.

As do I. I had more or less guessed that the heart thing couldn’t possibly be the “cataclysmic event” because they had approx. 9 seconds to figure out what the thing was once they opened it. I also kept thinking back to the events they listed. The one that stuck in my head was the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand starting WWII. Why? Because that’s actually a pretty subtle thing. No one really looked at that at the time and said “uh oh. Now the Nazis are going to annex half of Europe and start a program of ethnic cleansing”. i.e. a doomsday device in that briefcase just didn’t seem likely. Now, what’s interesting, is it now seems obvious to me that Rambaldi (sp?) KNEW all this was going to go this way and has a plan – he SENT the “good guys” after the heart, and knew that sloane was going to get that scroll. never suggested that there was a way to stop it. Never indicated that they should. Just like, back in the end of the first season he put in the bit about “she’ll die never having seen the view from the top of Mt. coughmumble” and thus proving that it wasn’t Syd, but Durevco. (Though I wonder why they didn’t immediately put her to deatch when they found her given that info…anyway). So you see, Rambaldi planned all this out hundreds of years ago. The question is this. What is his master plan? What, precisely, does he want to bring out of all of this? Then maybe we’ll see how this sucker’s going to end. I think they should wrap it up in the next two seasons (At the most). This baby really needs some kind of conclusion. And then get the writers started on a similarly conceived show – but not a “24” clone (i.e. same actors, setting, etc. but different plot.) anyway…I’ll shut up now.

The assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand was actually the event that started the FIRST World War (not the Second).

d’oh….shoot…brain fart (of the most extreme kind).

  2. time travel?
I think it’s clear that Rimbaldi was/is/will be a time traveler. Maybe Sloane was/is/will be him.
