Charmed Discussion – “Oh My Goddess, Part One & Two” (SEASON FINALE)

Sorry This (and others) is (are) late, but it was a long day. Basically got to sit down and watch this and crash.

If you happen to like this show, and you did happen to catch this one, WOW…I’m…stunned by the ending. If you didn’t…well, let’s just say you better catch the rerun before you start watching next season. MAJOR…HUGE….*HUGE* changes.

  1. Can’t believe it
I can’t believe that Piper would let Leo get away with something like this. I also don’t believe that Leo would even consider it. What about compromise? Wedding Vows? Hello?

Piper: “Well, Leo, this is great, I’ll just pack up mine and the baby’s stuff and we will move on up with you. I’ll just spend my time between you and my sisters and the club.”

    or

Leo: “Piper, I know it will be a lot of work so we’ve recruited some extra help and although I’ll be away from the house during the day and won’t be able to look after you, I will still have my evenings and weekends off and will be there with you. Even Elders have personal lives.”

    • Re: Can’t believe it
yeah I agree that makes little sense… Leo wouldn’t just up and leave for good like that, and Piper (IMHO) probably wouldn’t have submitted to the whole make me feel happy thing.

One other idea, what if Chris isn’t really from the future? Maybe he has the power of premonition like Phoebe but to a much greater extent… perhaps a warlock that found a way around the whole book hates warlocks thing.

One last conspiracy theory, I think Leo may have been playing Chris right before he got blasted. Right as his orb disappears there is a little flash which for some reason reminds me of the flash when you turn off an old TV, which relates to how the simulated titans ‘interlaced out’ after blasting Paige…

  2. review
OK, well i submitted a review earlier in the day. so i’ll just post a bit of it in a comment.

I don’t like my girl Alyssa as a blonde, but I did dig the toga. They seem to be taking a turn in direction for next season, with Leo’s promotion and the new (evil?) whitelighter.

    High Point:

Leo saves the day and becomes the new leader of the Elders. Yay!

    Low Point:

So many questions. The end is confusing. They keep hinting that Chris is indeed, evil, but does he kill Leo at the end? Is he just playing around? We see him lightning bolt Leo’s shimmering image as he is orbing away. Brian Krause re-signed for next season, so his character will be back. How can Leo not sense that he’s evil? Is Chris really from the future? How is it that he could touch the Book of Shadows? I’m theorizing that perhaps Chris is Wyatt? Perhaps his strong power has turned him to the dark side?

I was guessing that Chris is Wyatt for most of the episode, though I can’t be sure.
      Evidence:
Assuming that he is from the future how did he become a whitelighter if all of the elders were killed on this day in his timeline? He would have needed to have the ability to orb before they were all destroyed. That, coupled with looking about the right age and familiarity with the BoS seems to point to Wyatt.

I was thinking the same thing about Chris being Wyatt. The only thing that disrupts that theory is the whole Chris/Wyatt exchange. That just felt loaded with hidden meanings.

As far as next season, I fore see some serious thwacking!

I thought Chris was Wyatt too…but here are the problems. if he IS, then a) discussion *with* Wyatt, b) he CAUSED his father to abandon him. That would never have happened without him, so he can’t be feeling angry for the abandonment. His coming back saved his father’s life. Sort of. and that leads to C which I won’t mention because it’s a bit of a spoiler.

The actor who plays Leo renewed his contract for next season, so he has to be in it. That’s about all I know.

Not exactly. If Chris is Wyatt, and he does feel that Leo abandoned him in his, Chris’s past, that doesn’t mean that “Chris” was the cause. This Whole time travel thing could be like “I hate daddy for leaving me. How can I hurt daddy… I know! I’ll hurt mommy!”

His coming back saved his father’s life. Sort of. and that leads to C which I won’t mention because it’s a bit of a spoiler.

I wouldn’t look too deeply into the causal-loop details. Until someone actually does travel back in time and change their own history, it’s all guess work. There are any number of theories. Some say that when Chris’s home timeline has been obliterated and replaced by a new one, he should have ceased to exist and thus never altered history.

A more applicalbe one says that yes, Chris’s original time has been wiped away, “Chris” is now quantum-mechanically “attached” to our time. Well, that’s not so accurate… to be more precise, “Chris” was not attached to his timeline at the time of it’s destruction, namely the events depicted in “Goddesses.”

This is not to say his is a man “unstuck” in time, he is quite firmly anchored in this timeline, in so much as time travel is’t a trip to the quickie mart.

Okay, I’ll stop talking… for now.

      • Re: review
I think it is brilliantly obvious that they were trying to make us think that Chris was Wyatt… It may have been a little too obvious to try to trick us… The two most convincing pieces of evidence to me are when Chris is talking to Piper in the bedroom and forgets to mention the baby when saying how much they all need each other and then at the very end when Leo looks at Chris and says something “and don’t forget, I’ll be watching over you” and he has the weirdest expression on his face (just before that he has been telling Piper that he will always watch over the baby and will feel his presence).
