  1. Bad attempt at a bad joke…
Let us cast our minds back a time to the doomed Mars probe which crashed into the planet because of a mix up over metric and imperial measurements… what is not known about that mission is that the probe had been nicknamed “Will E Coyote”… ok that wasn’t that funny but its too early in the morning for the humour part of my brain to kick in. Hey it beats the ACME joke I had as the alternative.

This COULD explain what the Iraqi military did with their known cache of Eludium Q32 Explosive Space Modulators…

There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom! Where is my earth-shatterring Kaboom?

  2. Well…
All the Marvin images are staying put on earth, worn by the launch crew.
    Still cool though : )

That’s not what the article says. It says there will be two rovers sent, one bearing Marvin’s image, and the other bearing Daffy’s image. Where are you seeing Marvin’s remaining earthbound??

From the article: With Marvin being used for rover A and Daffy for
rover B, the mission logos will be seen on Team Delta crew suits, jackets
and mugs and the Air Force 1SLS Delta rocket launch pad.

It doesn’t say that the rovers will have the logo on them, just that the
        crew’s junk will.

If you read the actual Warner Brothers press release, it has additional text including the following:

Jordan Sollitto, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products: “We are thrilled about teaming up with NASA on these exciting missions and are looking forward to giving our characters the opportunity to touch down upon the Red Planet.”

“touch down on the Red Planet” certainly sounds like the patches are on the landers, too.

I wrote this up over on my website Sci-Fi Today (soon to be SciScoop to reflect its science rather than sci-fi major emphasis) so thanks for the tipoff and read my version of the story, it’s got more links including one to the WB press release, which has some (lame) jokes in it. Stick around and register as a member, post and comment often…

First of all, you are quoting a vice president of marketing, and do not
seem to assume that all he spews is lies and half-truths. That’s not a
            healthy attitude.

Second of all, he alludes to it, without saying it outright. Whereas the
article does mention exactly where the images will be, and the rovers
            aren’t in the list.

Maybe they did put ’em on there, but there is no indication that they did.
Although the rover’s name should at least be printed on them…

Well, gotta agree with you there. My bad.
