Star Wars: Galaxies Ships Today

The MMORPG from Sony and LucasArts is finally available. It’s getting decent press and the design team has some respected work in their resume. Some little game they call EverQuest or somesuch. Read more about the game from the Official Site.

  1. Join the dark side…
… well if you manage it. I like the fact that it is not going to be that easy to create Jedi’s. If I recall (I can’t check it up at the moment what with my works Content Filter) you have to do certain things with a character which then opens up a new character slot which is Force Able. You then have to train that character as a Jedi, sounds sweet.

I just hope the content and action keeps up unlike many MMORPG’s. I LOVE Neocron but I just feel as if there is nothing really to do most of the time, no real “goal”, here’s hoping for Star Wars.

I guess I’ve gotta while though to see what happens, its not out here in the UK for a bit.

    • The REAL dark side
The REAL dark side is the fact that my brother has been giving me a play by play of trying to register his account.

It’s been 6 hours now, and he can’t get past the credit card screen without it crapping out on him and sending him back to do it all over again.

Of course, I’ve been working all day and my copy doesn’t come until tomorrow anyway so I’ve been IM-ing back ‘neener neener neener’ and ‘HA HA’ every time he tells me it’s gone south on him. :D

  2. Subscription Rates!

    • 1 month – $14.99
    • 3 months – $41.99
    • 6 months – $77.99
    • 12 months – $143.99

The best rate is $12 a month! And $50 for the game will only give you one included month. I’m sorry, but if you are going to charge this much for the service you should give away the client. I just couldn’t get into a game with a reoccuring fee like this. $5 a month would be about my limit, no matter how good the game looks. Too bad to as it looks pretty nice. If only we could run our own servers.

For some reason, box charges are awfully popular. I can only think of one MMORPG that doesn’t have a massive box charge. The big companies are awfully fond of their revenue …

That’s not too bad (compared to some things) admittedly I am saying that being in the UK where that means it costs us about… erm (darn calculations!)… £87 for the 12 months.

Just don’t look at this. It’ll give you a heart attack.
