  1. The serial-as-movie/series also created the strong-personality version of Clark– totally unlike the original comic or the later movies– who became the basis of the John Byrne Superman. The comments on the Kent/Supes relationship from Feiffer’s The Great Comic Book Heroes— plagiarized by Tarantino in Kill Bill— only make sense with reference to the earlier version of the character, and not the one many people know/knew through Byrnes.

    (Clark seems to be a bit of both now, I think).

    And, yeah, I recall seeing reruns of the show when I was a kid, and being disappointed that Superman appeared so little.
