  1. I read on Wiki that this episode was forced to be ‘dumbed down’ by the studio- who wanted it to be more mainstreamed for viewers. This seemed to be a solid episode that had a more standard formula from the 80’s standard of mystery television. I still feel like they retread famous movies for the first season to rope viewers in, before they step out into the unknown of new story telling in season 2 and beyond. This clear connection to POLTERGEIST and the ENTITY was for me a fun way to get to know Mulder and Scully in a familiar way. One thing I notice this time around is how they go to great lengths to be sure Scully sees nothing paranormal.
