Crossover Hell: Freddy Versus Jason

The long-rumored ultimate milking of two long-dry franchisesTM will apparently be released on August 15th. The official site may be found here.

Perhaps they should’ve entitled it Freddy the 13th?

  1. Hmmmm…..
Jason: Unkillable force of manevolence that has been shot, stabbed, electrocuted, drowned, and my personal favorite, blown up(In the opening scenes of the movie, I might add), who, based on all accounts doesn’t sleep…

Freddy: A shining example of humanity that struck a deal with demons that allowed him to become the master of the dream realm…. and a permanent resident of the same.

Jason doesn’t sleep, and Freddy will get you if you sleep. So I guess our poor human protagonists are not only up the proverbial creek without a paddle, but their canoe is leaking.

The logical solution is to put these two charming fellows in the same room and let them sort it out. The snag being how?

For the record, I have never paid money to see a “horror” movie, but I might actually go to this one.

Date typo corrected. Hadn’t finished my coffee when I posted.

And then you replied to the wrong comment!

Maybe you should have some more coffee :)

  2. Just to quote a friend…
    during the trailer:
Trailer: “The ultimate confrontation[…] Place your bets”
Friend: “I bet this movie will suck!”

    (laughter throughout theater)

I’ve never seen either of the series, but I did find the line “why won’t you *die*!” funny. I think your friend’s right though — a battle between two unkillable villains is pretty silly. About as silly as the mortals fighting the immortals in Pirates of the Caribbean (though it was still a fun movie).

I recently had the misfortune to see a comic superman versus the terminators, featuring, yes, Superman (and -woman, -girl, -boy (sic)) and numerous Terminators. Next to the fact that this thing was completely void of any coherent story whatsoever, I was wondering who actually paid for this rubbish. After being intrigued for about 5 minutes (the time it took me to unzip and read the entire thing), I promptly deleted it from my HD.
This seems to me to be along the same lines: putting two commercial successes to gether and hoping that it is even better :-/ I guess this is a case where (1+1!=2).
We have an event every year around here called Night of the Bad Taste with a wonderful atmosphere. I have no doubt that this feature film will end up as one of the top acts…
