As seen on scifiwire,
a few technical emmys went to genre shows. My personnal
favourite:
Fox’s canceled SF western series Firefly
won the Emmy for outstanding special visual effects for a series,
for its pilot episode, “Serenity.”
That was
the only Emmy it was nominated for, and it won. The ceremony
for the major awards will be this weekend (I believe.)
Darn Fox
I just checked, and, nope, there’s still no forgiveness in my heart for Fox cancelling that show.
shiny stickers
What do you want to bet that, because of this, they slap a shiny sticker on the Firefly DVD set that says “the Emmy award winning Firefly” or something like that?
Mind you, that’s a good thing, and obviously, it’s true.
Re: shiny stickers
You forgot to mention that the shiny sticker will also carry with it a nice, albeit temporary, price hike.
Re: shiny stickers
True that, but what I’m really waiting for is FOX to start trying to shift the blame to Whedon for Firefly‘s cancellation rather than their own stupidity.
Re: shiny stickers
Also applies for the movie. Might help draw in a crowd: “Emmy award
winner”
sounds catchier than “cancelled after half a season”…
