Premise

Some time has passed since Rick and the survivors welcomed the remnants of Woodbury. Life seems surprisingly idyllic, given the circumstances. Rick’s autocracy has given way to rule by a council, settlers have divided the chores, Michonne continues to hunt the Governor, and crews head into town to scavenge supplies. Rick, meanwhile, has three questions for a mysterious woman he meets in the forest.

The episode ends with a sinister twist.

High Point

The Battle of the Big Box gives us a new reigning champion among unusual zombie battles.

Low Point

Why is Glenn the only one wearing any kind of armor? I know it wouldn’t be the easiest thing to find or manufacture, but given the small size of most supply run groups and the significant degree of danger, you’d think it would be a bit of a priority.

The Scores

Originality: 4/6 The story continues, though we’re treated to a few new elements. The final moments present a threat that I’m surprised we haven’t encountered yet in the show. The best twists, of course, are ones that make perfect sense once they happen.

Effects: 6/6

Story: 5/6 The story moved along, but it was a little predictable.
Still, we’re set up for new directions.

Acting: 5/6 The cast remains strong.

Emotional Response: 5/6 I really liked the low-key, believable presentation of relationships of various kinds. Zach’s guessing game with Daryl was a particularly nice, small touch.

Production: 6/6

Overall: 5/6

In total, “30 Days Without an Accident” receives 36/42

Death from Above

I knew immediately that if I searched for this, I’d find it.
