Charmed Discussion – “Valhalley of the Dolls”

It’s season premiere time! It even sounds like there are two
parts to this premiere, so interested parties should be sure to
check out both.

  1. Pretty Good
I have to give it a A+ for all the hotties :). – Alyssa Milano also looks really hot in the new haircut.

The Joe Millionaire reference was pretty funny, I didn’t watch the show, but i did recognize the guy.

I couldn’t disagree more. The haircut is horrible. The story with Leo leaving is very very bad. He is supposed to be a higher being with a commitment to his family, he should be required to set a good example. Leaving his family is just not an option. Now, he could always take them with him…

Agreed. The haircut sucks. After Felicity chopped her hair and lost ratings, I thought the WB had some regulations about haircuts, but I have no doubt that Alyssa will continue to bring ratings despite her hair. Plus, I think she’s one of the producers of the show now?

Anyway, its like the writers couldn’t figure out what to do next after the middle of last season. This Chris thing is a little weird and obvious. He’s obviously bad, the dogs didn’t like him, but the girls are clueless. My theory at the end of last season was that he was and evil Wyatt from the future, but now, who knows.

I didn’t watch Joe Millionaire, so I missed that reference, wait, he was Oscar, wasn’t he! I thought he looked familiar…

I have to agree on the hottie front though: Eric Dane and Drew Fuller!

It does look like it’ll be an interesting season if they can stretch the story out and not reveal what Chris is up to too soon, but still advance it every episode. I’m not happy with them breaking up Piper and Leo though.

  2. Sadness over the season premiere
I am furious that Leo is “gone” and the producers claim the marriage is “kuput.” What on earth? This show is becoming less and less believable. I mean, if Leo is an Elder, basically God-like, then he should be able to be in two places at once or see his family even more than when he was zooming all over the place as a whitelighter. This is disgusting. I mean, yeah, let’s break up the good, solid marriage relationship just so that Piper have have sex with other guys and neglect WYATT! Yeah, WYATT’s really going to be able to grow up to reach his potential if he does not have both parents and if his Mom is distracted and has no support. That was totally stupid that Piper refused to let Leo stay and Leo did not fight harder to explain the benefits of them all being together as a family. Also, this show is not a fun, family/ magical show anymore. I mean, Phoebe having sex behind the desk with the whole office listening/ watching? What was that? And their clothes are getting even more skimpy. And the presence of Chris is so depressing. Just depressing. Obviously he is evil.

I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t trust TV producers as far as I could throw them. Let’s get Sherlock on their butts.

This is the first (and technically second) eppisode of the season, and they are already pronouncing the marriage dead?

I don’t know about the rest of Charmed fandom, but the Piper/Leo marriage was very well receieved with my friends(some of us felt bad for Dan but we got over it).

        The writers/producers must know this.

This gives them a lot of emotional leverage to play with.

Ergo, if they are using that leverage, not just blatantly, but early means they have more in store.

Now, what to do with Chris… On one hand, the book responds to him, and not in a Tesla coil kind of way, we know that he is not, by definition “Evil.”

Up until now, Charmed has had, the “Good,” the “Evil,” and the “Inocent,” with almost no middle ground. Cole was the main foray into this grey area. But what if Chris is a similar case… albiet from the other side of the spectrum. Cole/Balthazar(sp) meet Pheobe and saw something so wonderous that he suppressed his demonic side for her, or tried to. What if Chris, is a “Good” person who really is from the future, but in his future, he saw things so horrible that his only conclusion is to play hardball.

Maybe his future has, and I’m assuming Chris is Wyatt, his family killed, horribly. Given that alternative, perhaps breaking his family up in order to increase their powerlevels is a small price to pay, vis a vi Leo’s Elder powers combined with the hard edge the Valkyries gave him, Phoebe’s new power manifested to help Piper, and Piper, will if her powers are linked to her emotions then having her perpetually pissed presents a panapoly of prodigious possibilities.

Did I just alliterate… There is a lesson here, no posting pre-caffine.

      Okay, recap:

Chris has manipulated events to break Piper and Leo apart.
Leo is now an Elder, with presumably more powers than before.
Leo spends 5 weeks with the Valkyries.
        This serves 2 purposes:
it makes him into a better fighter.
I’m theorizing that is has raised the standards of Valhalla a nudge.

Leo wasn’t around to dial back his pain-numbing spell on Piper, this caused Pheobe’s powers to evolve.
Paige is growing as a woman and a witch. Always a good thing.
Piper is now likely stronger than ever.
If ther is some big bad looming over the rainbow, I would say that Chris is preping the Manor to fight a war. I’m guessing this makes him “Misguided Good.”

      I think I’ll stop talking… For now.
