  1. Nice Episode
I found it to be well-acted and fairly well-written. Sure there’s some technical faults, but no one’s perfect. I hope they keep Dumont around for a while, he’s a delicious nemisis for Jake.

Agree. I really enjoyed this one. I dont mind the technical flubs because I’m not that kinda geek. I do like the fact that they had some Bomberman music in there – that was a nice touch. Equally nice was a mention of IRC. This being a geek-centric show, I think they need to include more real technologies. Also, I wouldn’t mind them using real OS windows. It seems to work for other dramas [*big* nod to Alias for showing Jack using Trillian Pro, btw].

Also… the background music at the very end was mildly MILDLY reminiscent of a cue from either Doom or Duke3D (something by Bobby Prince anyway). I dont know if it was intentional, but I thought it was a nice touch regardless.

And you’re right, Dumont is a pretty good nemesis. I like the fact that he’s naturally better at being a geek/hacker than Jake – so if they play the character well then Jake will have some resentment of Dumont because of that.

Should be a decent show – it’s definitely developing well and growing out of its early problems. Hell, I find myself looking forward to Wednesdays more for Jake 2.0 than Enterprise lately.

How bad is the self-deprecation? I had to mute the pilot repeatedly, and gave up on the one from last week due to it. If they’re getting better, it might be worth watching. Which is tough – one TV is showing Angel, the other West Wing. Grr.

They set it up in episode 1 – when the nice doctor lady was explaining the nanites and said that just like any other computer, he’s susceptible to hacking and viruses. And now Jake’s got an uberhacker as a nemesis. If this show lasts long enough, you know eventually Dumont will find out and try to crack into Jake’s system.

Yeah, I’m already expecting that. I just want them to go down the character/emotional development avenue as well. Raw plot is fine, but I want some emotion in there to bring it all home. That’s why I hope they dont just do the goodie goodie “Me Jake! Me good, you bad!” thing, but also get some human flaws into the mix.
