  1. Seeing this list pop up in my feed reminded me of a question I was going to ask:

I haven’t read comics in a couple decades, aside from occasionally picking up Buffy season volumes. I was reading a bit about Marvel Unlimited and wondered if anyone here had it and what their thoughts were.

I know that it isn’t current, but that’s fine — I’m mostly interested in back issues and reading older runs/arcs since I’m so far out-of-date; I’m not really interested in collecting, just reading. From what I hear the selection is pretty good but has occasional gaps, and the Android app isn’t great, but it may still be worth it for what you get. $10/mo or $70/yr sounds pretty cheap to get access to 13,000+ comics, and makes me wonder what the catch may be.

    Any thoughts?

    • I’m really enjoying it, and it’s not uncommon for issues to show up there before they appear in trade. (It’s a minimum six month window.) As you’ll hear if you listen to Saturday’s Comic Book Pilot Season podcast, the entire run of Thor is on there, for one example. There are many issues of 1960s Marvel, some 1970s, key issues from the 1980s and 1990s, and then another good spread of issues from the past decade. The reader isn’t as well developed as the ComiXology reader, as one would expect from the price, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone told me that was their only source of comics.
