Premise

The team is sent to roll out the Welcome Wagon for a woman who seems to have developed telekinetic powers.

High Point

This is the Mathilda May story I’ve been waiting for.

Low Point

We know it was glued down. The characters should have taken the hint.

The Review

This seems to be the main recurring format of the series, at least for this season. Thus, the originality isn’t great, but it does handle it differently than it has in the past. I give it 4 out of 6.

The effects were generally well done. The CGI tweaks to the big fight could be jarring, since Wen’s image was being jerked around to simulate impacts that the actress wasn’t feeling. The “big finish” jarred me out of the episode. I give it 4 out of 6.

The story is solid, if predictable. The only surprise was the “red herring” name early on. I give it 4 out of 6.

The acting was good. Now that Wen is allowed to emote, it’s easier to get engaged with her character, and the ensemble is coming together. This being a Whedon show, I assume that means at least one will be dead by the end of the season. I give it 5 out of 6.

The production is the usual Mutant Enemy high. 6 out of 6.

The emotional response is strong, picking up the last thread needed to put the ensemble together. I give it 5 out of 6.

Overall, it’s a good episode, and it feels like the end of “act one” in a three act structure for the season. I give it 5 out of 6.

In total, Repairs receives 33 out of 42.

One reply

  1. OK, so the bad guy can’t get in the cage, right? Which to me indicates he couldn’t get OUT if he was in there with the door closed… and he totally rushed in there the first chance he gets. Now if you’re going to use someone as bait, wouldn’t it make more sense to use the bait in, I dunno, A TRAP?
