Galactica Goodness

For those that miss it (or never got to see it) Battlestar Galactica is being rereleased on DVD. Get both the feature film (in widescreen no less!) and the complete series.

Thank all that you hold dear that Galactica 1980 isn’t in the set.

  1. Original first episodes?
Does anyone know if the boxed set includes the original, unedited episodes that were spliced together to make the movie?

Of course, some people might argue that “Galactica” and “goodness” don’t belong in the same sentence.

But, yeah, Galactica 1980 burrowed through the bottom of the barrel.

Good grief, that guy has some issues with the show. What ever
happened to ‘suspending ones belief’ when watching a TV show? That
guy needs to take a deep breath and sit back.

Galactica 1980, oh my god, what a train wreck. I remember when I was
a kid and saw that and thought ‘what happened to everyone??’ and then
        thinking I just missed it.

I’ve watched it now on Sci-Fi channel and I *know* I didn’t miss
anything, they just completely changed it all without telling anyone. Dr.
Zevo or whatever his name was? What the hell, that musta been some
        good cocaine.

Putting aside the fact that “that guy” is an earlier incarnation of me, the point of the “Bad Movie Night” site is to slag bad movies for entertainment purposes. It’s rather like Mr. Cranky (which Bad Movie Night pre-dates) or Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Take a deep breath, sit back, and laugh.

          (well, that was the idea)

That said, “suspending one’s belief” doesn’t mean accepting stupidity just ’cause it calls itself SF or fantasy. I mean, that makes the case for Enterprise‘s first two seasons.

I beg to differ. Battlestar Galactica is much better than Enterprise’s first
            two seasons. :D

Seriously though. I never saw it as a rip off of star wars. Maybe it
capitalized on the ‘sudden interest’ in all things sci-fi but I actually
enjoyed the series and was sad to see it go off the air (the non-1980
            version)

Then again I liked V (haven’t see ‘the series’ though since I was a kid so
not sure if it’s kid induced fog) and Buck Rogers as well.

being a lifelong Star Trek fan I watch Enterprise out of almost obligation
but it’s a painful experience and it takes me longer and longer since it
aired to watch it (on TiVo) which has recently been delgated to the
saturday re-run slot since Smallville is that much better at the moment.

Though it might get relegated to the old TiVo when That 70’s Show
            comes back on.

I find that suspending one’s disbelief makes it a lot more entertaining… :)
