It’s a good week for seasons of old TV shows that everyone remembers but few call “classic.”

Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “go with It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” Alex’s pick will follow in the comments.
My Pick of the Week is one which, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to contribute since I got engrossed in studying: The Blu-Ray release of Blue Submarine No. 6 (Amazon, RightStuf). I’ve always enjoyed submarine action series, and this post-apocalyptic submarine action anime in particular is incredibly well paced and visually interesting. I’ve been waiting for a blu-ray release for a while and I’m glad one finally came out.
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a classic and worth watching if you haven’t seen it. They don’t make movies like that anymore (i.e., ones that take their time – it’s super long).
I remember seeing Cat People when I was a kid… well. We didn’t so much see it as, well, there were naked people in it. Now I’m wondering if it’s actually a good movie…
I first saw “Cat People” in my early 30s. The Val Lewton one from the 1940s ages better as a horror, and doesn’t have a vet shouting “WATCH IT!” on the soundtrack when the unconscious leopard’s head is smacked into a table. That said, this version is watchable for reasons other than Natassia Kinski’s body, but it’s not great. If seeing Kinski naked isn’t a big selling point for you, it’s probably not worth owning.
I’ll put it on the “Hey if it ever shows up somewhere I might watch it” list.
Casino Royale reinvented Bond. Cat People makes for interesting viewing (both versions, actually), but while I’d recommend seeing them, I wouldn’t necessarily purchase them.
