The summer slump seems particularly bad this year, though there are some good Criterion releases.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “I haven’t seen Scanners, so I can’t pick that one in good confidence. However, I have seen several of the matches on the Best of the Great American Bash DVD, and I thought those were incredibly good, enough that I’d recommend checking that out if you enjoy wrestling.” Blaine says, “like Alex, I haven’t seen Scanners yet, but it’s high on my list of things to watch. With a Criterion release available, that’s a safe bet.”
Well, there’s Orphan Black, Season 2. But yeah, generally a nothing week.
There was another Clue movie with a teen cast? WTF? Can’t wait for the Snakes ‘n” Ladders and Monopoly films.
This Clue was actually a failed TV series attempt. It bears little resemblance to the other movie or the game and actually had some promise. Rather than a contained murder mystery is was more of a conspiracy and involved artifacts left behind by Nikola Tesla.

It was certainly meant for a younger target demographic, but it would have been interesting had it been continued.
No kidding, next thing they’ll do a Battleships movie.
That’s just silly. Anyone would be able to see that a film version of Battleship would be a disaster, especially if they went the Crystal Skull route and added aliens.
On another note, Dead End is up. Decent old film, with a lasting effect on Hollywood history.
