Trailer Park Tuesday – August 19, 2014

Been a while, so here’s a round-up of what’s left for the Summer and what’s coming later this year.

  • Birdman
  • The Book of Life
  • Dinosaur 13
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1
  • Interstellar
  • Mad Max: Fury Road
  • The Maze Runner
  • Mudbloods
  • Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
  • Ouija
  • The Penguins of Madagascar
  • The Theory of Everything
  • Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
  • Tusk

Birdman

Not sure if this is fantasy or just someone losing their mind.

The Book of Life

Anyone else feeling nostalgic for Grim Fandango?

Dinosaur 13

This, like seemingly all modern “documentaries,” is clearly not impartial, but the subject matter seems interesting.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

If they split the movies where I think they will, Part 1 will be tediously dull, but Part 2 will be a kick-ass action flick.

Interstellar

Mad Max: Fury Road

Re-imagined, because Mel Gibson is no longer a marketable star.

The Maze Runner

Based on the James Dashner novel.

Mudbloods

A documentary on Quidditch. No, seriously.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

Because there is now a finite amount of new Robin Williams material. And that’s a very sad fact.

Ouija

At least it can’t be as bad at Battleship, right? RIGHT?!

The Penguins of Madagascar

Someone at Dreamworks finally realized what was the only thing funny about the Madagascar movies and removed the “celebrity” voices.

The Theory of Everything

Because a biopic of Stephen Hawking could be awesome.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

If this is half as much fun as the first one, I am so there.

One reply

  1. Birdman – Uh, maybe if it comes on HBO or Netflix.

The Book of Life – Looks pretty, if my kid insists we might see it in the theater, otherwise wait.

    Dinosaur 13 – Pass

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 – Definitely seeing it, probably opening might if possible.

Interstellar – Maybe, probably wait for DVD/Netflix

Mad Max: Fury Road – I want to see it, but my wife probably doesn’t.

The Maze Runner – Looks decent. I could go either way, the wife will probably want to see it in the theater, mostly because it stars Stiles.

Mudbloods – Pass. I am a fan of the HP universe, but not like that…

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb – Haven’t seen the others, probably skip this one too.

Ouija – Laughable though it was, Battleship had its moments. Looks like they have a good set of people (Olivia Cooke, Douglas Smith, Teen Witch/Lana from Twin Peaks Robyn Lively, and several others). Not one to see in the theater but we’ll watch it eventually.

The Penguins of Madagascar (Dreamworks typo?) – Haven’t seen the others, probably skews a little young for my son now.

The Theory of Everything – Maybe a rental. Maybe.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – The first was OK. Not too crazy about the style. Maybe a rental.

Tusk – Bizarre and yet oddly familiar (Misery? May? Something saw-like?). Might be too over-the-top (and not in the good way). Probably pass.
