Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an easy choice to recommend, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a nice companion. I’d hold off on Deep Breath and pick up the complete season when it comes.” Alex says, “I’m going with Captain America: The Winter Soldier this week.”
I’d also recommend Agents of SHIELD and Winter Soldier with the caveat that they we watched in the proper order if you haven’t seen them both together yet.
See http://shieldtv.net/marvel-cinematic-timeline-viewing-guide for a more exact guide.
Winter Soldier is, I think, the best of the Marvel movies to date.
But… The Carrie Collection? One classic, one terrible sequel, and the made-for-tv remake from 2002? The recent, more passable remake isn’t included. I don’t see that as a deal. (Even less of one for someone who buys it thinking they’re getting a Sex and the City tie-in).
Who on Earth would buy a single episode of Doctor Who when the whole season will be out eventually?
I’m guessing someone who doesn’t have BBC or some other local feed and isn’t sure how much they want to invest in the new Doctor. Then again, if you don’t have cable, you probably have streaming options and can spend a whole lot less on the same single episode. With iTunes (at least; that’s what I use so that’s what I know) you can be individual episodes and their value is deducted from the complete season if you pick that up later, so that’s how I’d sample.
