“Evil Dead” (and Bruce Campbell) Revived as Starz Mini-Series

Hail to the king, baby. Multiple sources are reporting that the Starz premium cable channel is working on “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” a miniseries in which Bruce Campbell’s Chin will reprise the role of Ash from Housewares.

Sam Raimi will direct the first episode.

An interesting tidbit from the press release:

Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons -personal and literal.

Man, I hope it doesn’t get all grimdark and serious like so many of the media remakes of the last few years.

  1. Between that and the fact that last I heard Starz was moving forward with American Gods, I may have to break down and get Starz. Or cancel HBO and switch to Starz. I don’t think there are any series on HBO right now that I watch, since True Blood ended, I don’t watch GoT, and The Leftovers was a disappointment.
