Premise

S.H.I.E.L.D. is trying to beat Hydra to the alien city, with name checks for the Kree and the need to help Raina coming in the process.

High Point

Mac’s subtle ways to drive Fitz and Simmons back into speaking terms.

Low Point

That’s the end of this part of Tripp’s story? They need to come up with an arc for him soon. It feels like such a waste.

The Review

This is the culmination of so many standing threads that it doesn’t feel as original as it actually is. This episode put together a number of moments that we’ve been waiting for, which means we didn’t get as many surpises as expected, not because the episode is poor, but because the story demands something like this along the way. I give it 3 out of 6.

The effects, both makeup and digital, continue to impress. I give it 6 out of 6.

The story holds together well enough, tying existing plotlines together while laying groundwork for new plots to kick off in the midseason break next week. I give it 5 out of 6.

The acting is consistent, as this cast has had plenty of time to get a feel for their characters. I give it 5 out of 6.

The production is rock solid, as we’ve come to expect from Mutant Enemy. I give it 6 out of 6.

The emotional response is decent. This wasn’t as gripping as other episodes, partly because some “reveals” are confirmation of theories I’ve had for a while. I give it 5 out of 6.

Overall, it’s a good episode, playing the role one would expect if you follow the broadcast schedules of the shows you watch. I give it 5 out of 6.

In total, Ye Who Enter Here receives 35 out of 42.

  1. I enjoyed this episode, but it still strikes me as incredible that we can have a TV show with these kind of production values on a weekly basis. How cool is that?

  2. I agree with you on the low point. I’d like to think they’ll give us more of him after we get to see his grandfather in action with Agent Carter, but I’m not getting my hopes up. :-\

  3. Agree all around. This felt more like a transitional setup than its own thing. It was nice to see that they appeared to be on location even. The Quinjets and the cloaked Bus all looked great, not like typical TV-grade FX.
