  1. Kind of a good setup going here, the real payoff will be next week/later though.

Nygma and Dr. Thompkins were the best parts of the episode though.

As for the whole Penguin situation, much like the pilot episode, you knew he couldn’t possibly have been in any legitimate danger so the plot was a bit of a dud for me.

Then you missed out. That was a bit of a highlight.

We know Penguin can’t die, and we see him put in a sure-death situation. We know he’ll get out of it, but the question, and the opportunity for the writers, is how.

The absolute obvious solution (and laziest writing) would’ve been that what’s his name lets him beg for a while and stops the crusher. That he’s just trying to scare him. Or some Deus Ex Machina having the machine break. Or even worse, the crusher somehow failing to kill Penguin without anyone noticing.

What we got instead was Penguin using his determination, ingenuity and quick wits.

I mean, occasionally we wonder why some of these guys are worthy adversaries for Batman. I mean he’s friggin Batman. That whole bit there showed that why Penguin can’t possibly compete with Batman on quite a few levels, there are some where he can match him.

      • Yeah I get that whole “how” angle but it still kind fell flat for me as those always do. Just one of my pet peeves.
