  1. Well…
Effin’ perfect. I’m in love with the casting so far, I hope the rest of the production shines as brightly.

My first memories of the HHGTTG was the BBC mini-series broadcast just prior to Dcotor Who on my old PBS station. I don’t think I was ten yet. Since then I’ve read just about anything I could get my hands on that had Douglas Adams name on it (even Starship Titanic which was horrible). Honestly I’m not sure I could ever accept other actors in these roles. The BBC’s images are so engraved in to my brain. But instead of being a nay-sayer I can’t wait to see the finished product.

I first encountered Hitchiker’s… as the BBC series from the 80s, too, though I was a bit (cough) older than ten. The actors did a good job, and there was something terribly entertaining about the incredibly low-budget effects.

Still, I’m hoping the movie’s approach does it justice.

Try listening to the original radio version. Most of the same actors, but not all. It may help you get used to the idea of different actors. The original Trillian was quite a bit better than the TV series, IMHO (The LP version has yet another Trillian) It’s too bad she was cut out of the story after the first six episodes…
