Finally, the picks of the week. Blaine says, “go with Limelight, Terminator, or Doctor Who: The Cybermen, depending upon which titles you don’t already own in a previous edition.” Alex says, “If you don’t own the Terminator films, I recommend picking those up. Also, fans of anime who don’t already own a copy of Ninja Scroll should probably pick up Ninja Scroll.”
Not at all genre, but The Larry Sanders Show is one of those classic comedy shows that everyone should watch.
It the Terror from Beyond Space is to Alien what Forbidden Planetis to Star Trek, but otherwise, the best releases this week are not our genre: Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused are two of the best of the teen genre, and Orange is the New Black, while only loosely resembling the book that inspired it, works very well on its own terms.
Just want to say that “Newsarama”, or as the rest of us call it “NewsRadio” was one of the best TV comedies when I was growing up. Funny, irreverent, even absurd (lest we forget NewsRadio as the Titanic or NewsRadio in Space) the show had a mix of characters, chemistry, and plot that rarely failed to disappoint. And need I say Phil Hartman?
