Smallville Discussion – “Resurrection”

I believe this is the last week of sweeps, which
probably means this is the last new episode until
April. We’ll know when the “next week on
Smallville” bit rolls around.

  1. Holes you could get all the wrecked trucks through!

Overall, I thought it was an okay episode, mostly because of decent to good acting, but this time some of the inconsistencies and holes bugged me.

Why would the lab send Gareth’s brother (sorry, forget the name) back instead of keeping him for further study or to stabilize his condition?

Clark’s sensitivity to Kryptonite seems to vary episode by episode, but it seemed odd that a bomb going off that close to him would affect him at least a little.

Where were Chloe and Lex during or before the surgery, to give Clark and Martha emotional support? (If only to give Lex another opportunity to send for “a specialist from Metropolis.”) Maybe Lex was at the lab at the time but Chloe should have been there, or at least there should have been a hint that she was off pursuing her own leads.

I assumed he broke out somehow. Obviously they wouldn’t just let him go…

He covered it up with a lead x-ray shield and then dropped it all down an all too convenient hole in the ground. All the kryptonite went straight up (very strong hole!)

I don’t have the feeling they’re *that* close to the family.

Personally, I feel sorry for the actor playing Garrett: what sort of parents would name a kid “James Kirk”? Hopefully they were clueless about Star Trek and not uber-trekkies.

And nobody was curious as to how the bomb, which was inside the hospital
strapped to a kid, managed to explode outside the hospital? At the very
least, the sharpshooter had just seen the bomb, kid, and associated strapping
seconds before it blew up. Wouldn’t a bomb squad have rushed in
immediately after the shooting to disarm the bomb? I don’t think the sheriff
would be likely to just shrug her shoulders when the bomb used in a hostage
      crisis goes missing.

  2. Adam

I never quite understood all the “he might be Bruce Wayne!” hoopla, but with Adam having received injections of Clark’s blood and his body now apparently breaking down, is anyone else hoping he’ll become Smallville’s version of Bizarro?

That would be pretty cool, if you ask me.

Hadn’t thought of that (duh!), but it’d sure work! The parallels are there and they’ve taken some time to build him up as a character, so presumably he’s going to be the Freak of Multiple Weeks.

And what better way to build on on adolescent Clark’s anxieties to see Adam as a version of himself? (I’d imagine that he’d already be freaked by killing Tina while she looked just like him, that’s gotta shake the psyche a bit.)

    • Re: Smallville reviews?

With Angel ending, does this mean we’ll get the Smallville
      reviews back? :)

Most likely. I’ll do the same “vote for the reviews” deal
this fall, and I suspect Smallville will get a
lot of votes. I’ll review it this season too, if
Angel has a rerun when Smallville is
new. (The constraints are on the time I have available
      any given week.)
