  1. Also out this week

Is the first issue of an ongoing series focusing on Mike Mignola’s BPRD characters (I’m fairly certain, however, that he’s not writing or drawing the book). Of course, what would be really cool would be if Diamond could have shipped it to the right place — hopefully it, Supreme Power, and quite a few other titles from this week’s shipment will make it to my local comic shop by the weekend.

This week’s Exiles issue was nice, though.

    • Well, I was half-right.
Mignola’s writing at least the first story arc of the BPRD series. Which is looking really good, but stands a good chance of leaving someone unfamiliar with the background probably a little lost in the first issue — it picks up the story from Seed of Destruction, which was the first Hellboy story, and references to three or four other stories (with the exception of the smallest, though, they’re all footnoted for the interested and unfamiliar).

Supreme Power #8 is an interesting issue indeed.

God, I love that series. “Do it again” was a great
moment. The only thing I don’t like is that I’ll have to
wait five entire weeks for the next one.

I would say this was the best issue so far. It did an excellent job of driving home some things about Hyperion’s view of the world, and pointed out something that hadn’t occurred to me: (spoilerish) he’s never felt pain before.

And that is probably the major reason I read more than, say, two or three books. For instance: God only knows when the next issue of Planetary will be (well, end of this month, apparently, with a trade in a couple weeks — but the previous issue was in December!).
