Tripping the Rift Discussion

The new CG-Animated comedy from Sci-Fi Channel debuted last night. Anyone remember to watch it?

  1. Where are the fart jokes?
From all the previews I got the impression this show was going to be one big fart joke. Guess that’s next week.
Actually I think it is a cartoon version of ‘Quark’ (remember that show starring Richard Benjiman?).

  2. First episode wasn’t bad
I’ll admit I laughed enough to make catching another episode a priority at least until something better hits that timeslot. Something about robots believing in God becuase otherwise they’d have to worship their dweeby creators and God yelling “Suckers!” was actually quite funny to me. However there was a few really stupid jokes that took away from the experiance. I think I’m going to at least catch an episode or two more then make my final decision.

If I wasn’t so tired I’d quote something from Red Dwarf about robot
heaven…heck: “But where would all the calculators go?”. So I can quote, I just
      can’t give context : )

  3. Gah
The annoying promos, which even TiVo couldn’t help me completely avoid, prompted me to go in and triple-thumb-down this thing before it even aired just in case TiVo even THOUGHT about recording it.

I forgot about it actually, and was only going to watch it because it was scifi and expected to watch it once, puke and quit. A friend recorded it on his Tivo however, and we watched it last night and it was pretty funny. It helped that I completely agree with the major digs at religion I suppose.

I do think it’s one of those shows that’s funny for a little while, then gets old quickly…

  4. Nope.
Was going to, but I found something more interesting to record at that hour.

  5. Wow
Oh wow, they made a real series out of this? I remember watching the fan made cg thing about 5 years ago. It was pretty raunchy and had nudity.

  6. They Buy this and cancel Angel??
The world must be going to hell or something, this show sux and a top quality show like Angel gets cancelled? Something is bad wrong here folks :) I am sure my 4 year old nephew might like this, but then again he has a brain so no promises.

  7. crap
I downloaded the epsiode; that’s pretty bad. I didn’t get any laughs out of it. I found their pilot funny because of all the bad words and nudity, and that worked because it was a one time thing. I couldn’t bring myself to watch something this crappy every week, I’ll give it one more episode to see if it actually goes anywhere.

  8. offensive crap
I’m a really open guy when it comes to a lot of things. I like japanese shock-horror movies and lots of scifi & anime, but I’m also a Christian. I knew Scifi’s previous track record for putting out quality scifi ( 0, would be higher but they canceled farscape ), but I was hopeful about ‘Tripping the Rift’. The whole episode was devoted to proving there was no God and that people (robots & cyborgs) are stupid for believing it. Ummm… ok with an intro that makes it look like the show is going to spoof or parody Trek & SW, and promos that make it look like the show is about farting and sex, how did they pick a nihlist episode about disproving God to start with? I did laugh at some of the jokes (believing in the engineers & dweebs who made us) but by the end of the episode it was like I had watched a 30 minute infomercial for Space Nihlism.

    Overall; crap

Technical High point: the fluid movement of the piles of treasure after they taugh the world what stealing was.

    Low point: plot sucked

BTW, The sacred heart savior with the head of a dog eriely reminded me of the picture described here:
