Premise

The Team fights time to find Dr. Stein a new Firestorm partner, and creates another metahuman villain in the process. The episode ends with an unexpected person rescuing the Flash from the jaws of death. Iris, meanwhile, tells off her dying mother while continuing to have no chemistry with Barry Allen, who has his eyes set on someone else.

High Points

The episode gave us some interesting developments, including the new Firestorm and King Shark

Low Points

…Much of the episode felt rushed; Demore Barnes’ character received about as much plausible background and development as the villains in the 1960s Spider-man cartoon.

The Scores:

Originality: 2/6

Effects: 4/6 The effects were a little below par today, especially on the final confrontation, when the heroes’ amazing plan was to razz the villain until he gets really annoyed. King Shark made some amends.

Acting: 4/6 The acting varied. Despite the rushed development of his character, Franz Drameh did well as Jax.

Story: 4/6 The story moves a handful of plots along, and they all feel rushed and forced. I don’t want the show to linger on every detail, but give characters and events some time to develop. The ADHD crowd will be more than compensated by the action sequences.

Emotional Response: 4/6

Production: 5/6

Overall: 4/6

In total, “The Fury of Firestorm” receives 27/42

Irrelevant Note

I initially typed “The Furry of Firestorm.” That would certainly have made for a more original episode.

  1. The parts with Hewitt did feel very rushed. The part with King Shark and anything with Barry and Patty were especially good though.

I could have done without any of the Iris drama, but they did set up Wally West as her brother.

  2. Having just finished season one on Netflix, its nice to see others feel the same about Iris.
