Premise

Still dealing with the public release of his secret identity, Daredevil must deal with the reappearance of the Owl.

High Point

“You were never here.”

Low Point

Luke Cage’s speech. I don’t know Luke very well, but he seems like he’d have delivered that message right away instead of waiting to be tracked down.

The Scores

The moral ambiguities Daredevil needs to face when dealing with a clearly evil villain are something I’m not used to seeing in superhero stories. Bendis is turning in work that feels very original. I give it 5 out of 6.

The artwork is still the Maleev stuff that I don’t really care for, although it is growing on me. I give it 4 out of 6.

The story is well written, tying in several threads together through the course of the arc. I give it 5 out of 6.

The characterization is accurate and natural for all but Luke Cage. I give it 4 out of 6.

The emotional response was excellent. I’m sucked into Daredevil’s world, and I want to see how he deals with the trials and abuse he’s forced to deal with. I give it 6 out of 6.

The flow is held up by Maleev’s art. I just doesn’t give the impression of motion. I give it 4 out of 6.

Overall, it’s a very interesting chapter in Daredevil’s life. I’m very impressed with the work Bendis has done on the title. I give it 5 out of 6.

In total, Daredevil: Lowlife receives 33 out of 42.
