Premise

Daredevil must deal with the fallout of Elektra’s
death while his
relationship with Heather goes to difficult places.

High Point

Issue 191, which has great insight into the
character.

Low Point

Bizarre Adventures #28. I don’t know what that was
supposed to be
about, and I honestly can’t tell if it’s meant to
jump back and forth
in flashbacks, or if it’s been reproduced out of
order.

The Scores

The originality is high, particularly in
Murdock’s client
early on, and the entire issue 191. I give it 5 out
of 6.

The artwork is a bit ugly. Miller can tell
a story well, but
his images aren’t pin-ups. I give it 3 out of 6.

The story was great in the Daredevil issues,
but weak and/or
rushed from the other two titles. I give it 5 out of
6.

The characterization is great for the title
character and
Foggy. I give it 5 out of 6.

The emotional response this produced was
very strong,
particularly in the Foggy Nelson issue and issue 191.
I give it 5 out
of 6.

The flow is well done at first, and then
breaks down in the
“What If?” and “Bizarre Adventures” stories. I give
it 5 out of 6.

Overall, it’s a very strong addition to a
Daredevil
collection. I’d suggest picking up volume 2 first,
then this, then
volume 1, if you choose to collect the Daredevil
Visionaries: Frank
Miller graphic novels. I give it 5 out of 6.

In total, Daredevil Visionaries: Frank Miller
Volume 3

receives 33 out of 42.
