Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “Fans of period Japanese swordplay films might be interested in picking up the Lady Snowblood set. Otherwise skip this week.” Blaine says, “the Sherlock Holmes releases here should be good. I haven’t seen the New Year’s special for Sherlock yet, as I bought digital and don’t have cable, but I’d be surprised if it’s poor. The public domain stuff is largely great, which I can say with confidence having seen most of it.”
The Sherlock special was very good. I thought it was going to be a one-off bit of fun, but it actually ties to the main “Sherlock” continuity quite well.
