You mentioned the Movie version but am curious of your take on the interpretation in the 90’s X-MEN TV series. The first season of that show was my introduction to Marvel and sold me on the X-MEN and this two parter stood out amongst those episodes where I still go back and watch these two. This had Bishop come back in time with Amnesia.
