Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “The Star Trek: The Next Generation collections are pretty good deals. On the anime side, I’ll also be picking up Gundam ZZ and Girl Who Leapt Through Time.” Blaine says, “I’d also grab Star Trek: The Next Generation if you didn’t grab the previous releases.”
I may have to grab the Star Trek II Director’s Cut.
No really. I don’t have any of the films on Blu-Ray…yet.
Plus, with how hard it is to find copies of TMP Director’s Cut, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to jump on it.
No kidding! I’ve been trying to find the Director’s Cut of ST:TMP for years…
The ST:TMP Director’s Cut will likely never see Blu-Ray release. I know the guy who runs the special effects shop hired to redo the effects, and although he campaigned for higher resolution, Paramount was unwilling to invest in resolution above DVD levels. A Blu-Ray release would have to start from scratch on the effects side, and the DVD just didn’t sell well enough to justify that.
That royally sucks.
I will happily take a DVD-level release of it!
Or you could hold off on buying Star Trek II and save your pennies for this monstrosity (which I totally will):

I dunno, that just makes me think that “monstrosity” is a terrible idea. It includes the director’s cut of Star Trek 2… and then in a year they’ll do a Director’s Cut of 3, then 4… etc.
Oh sure…ruin my fun…
