Comments Alex: Comedy anime series about a boy, Yuuta Iridatsu, who faints if he is (ahem) stimulated. After he is stimulated during a bus hyjacking because he saw a girl’s undergarments (it’s complicated), he develops the ability to astrally project when unconscious. However, if Yuuta sees the same pair of undergarments twice in a row, a meteor will immediately hit the earth, destroying it, forcing him to loop back in time. So, Yuuta must master his powers without causing the destruction of Earth, and has to figure out what the heck the meteor has to do with his abilities.

Finally, the picks of the week. Alex says, “This week, I’d recommend picking up The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai on Blu-Ray.” Blaine says, “I would go with Dead Like Me, created by Brian Fuller, the current showrunner of Star Trek: Discovery.”

  1. Dead Like Me was wonderful, shame there wasn’t a movie. No, really, there was not. I don’t care what the packaging on that set claims, it does not exist.

    • I think I saw an episode or two of it over my sister’s shoulder, and it looked pretty good.

Is that a shame the same way it’s a shame they never made a second Highlander shame?

      • Exactly. And how there’s only one Matrix movie. Three Indiana Jones movies. One season of Heroes.

        • ….Two Godfather movies and, gee, too bad Lucas never got around to making the proposed prequels to Star Wars.

(I always thought there were only two Indiana Jones movies, but I’m willing to negotiate).

This week sees a few interesting releases, like the collector’s of Buckaroo Banzai and the doc about the fan-film Raiders. And fans of the Gothic and creepy might want to check out the Psycho-Biddy classic, Who(ever) Slew Auntie Roo?.

  2. I don’t know how people can watch Buckaroo Banzai. It’s just. Not. Good. It’s not even So Bad It’s Good.

Dead Like Me was indeed a wonderful show.

I didn’t know there were that many American Ninja movies. I knew there were at least two, because of how they screwed up translating the titles. The first one was called American Ninja. Then a movie called Action Force came out starring some of the same people, and they translated it as American Ninja 2 even though it’s 100 unrelated.

Then American Ninja 2 came out and, of course, they had to translate that as American Ninja 3. They even chopped the voiceover on the trailers. It was kinda funny. Also kinda sad.
