is writes, According to Digital Spy The Matrix trilogy will be release in time for Christmas with ten discs. This may just be the all-encompassing set I’ve been looking for. The set will include the first two movies, movie 3 extended edition with an extra 55 minutes of footage, the Animatrix, and many discs full of special features… Wow. If I felt the sequels were worth owning, I’d be picking this up.

Nah. I refuse to acknowledge there were any Matrix movies made after the first one. They would just be awful, you know?

I’m Fine With The Second Movie. It Looked like The Second Movie Was Leading To A Wonderful Story Line Of ‘Zion Is Still Within The Matrix; When Neo Collapsed He Was Waking Up To The Real Real World… Maybe.’
I Was Hoping For That. I Was With The Next Movie, Hoping That Was What It Would Turn Out To Be, And I Still Think That Was What Was Intended, But When Everyone Complained About How Confusing Reloaded Was, I Think They Dumbed It Down. (That’s my Explination For Morpheus’s Line Of ‘Is This Real?’).
Maybe, The Extra 55 Minutes Of Footage will Be That Story Line, Like I’d Hoped. If So, I’ll Buy It (Even Though I Already Own The First Three Movies, And The Animatrix, Separately.

Nope. On that other site, it’s mentioned that the added footage (I think it’s going in M2, not M3) is the footage from “Enter The Matrix,” the video game that looked good in the commercials but which reportedly had bugs and lousy gameplay, so nobody saw this footage.

By any stretch of the imagination the 2nd and third movies were both good. Action-wise they were great, and the storyline continued pretty well.
I’m always amazed at people who don’t like a good movie. I see no reason why not to like #2 & 3 except that you had some expectations that were not met…
Can’t anyone see past the imperfections and see the good? Compared to most movies released, the matrix movies were outstanding all around.

How about this: those movies spent too little time on the
story that drives the action, making the action sequences
feel far too long. Action for the sake of action makes
for a boring movie. The first fight against the multiple
Smiths was much too long, for example.
For another, they didn’t feel right. The first film was a
Hollywood produced Hong Kong action flick, which gave me
the impression that careful attention had been paid to
each and every minor detail that appeared on screen in
every frame. It felt like a project that the creators
were in love with that was fresh and new. Once the
studios realized how much money this franchise could make
them, they couldn’t keep their grubby little mits off it.
They turned the sequels into typical Hollywood action,
with sloppy details and a labour of profit instead of a
labour of love. The sequels dropped to a level of
mediocrity that was undeserving of association with the
original.
You’re right that this is primarily missed expectations.
I didn’t say I disliked the sequels (although others did),
but that doesn’t mean I feel they’re worth owning. I’m
glad I saw them, but I don’t think I’ll pick them up.

No doubt. That first sequence had me scratching my head thinking ‘what was the point to that??’ when it was done.
I think what really did in #2 for me was the first 30 min or so in Zion. Just seemed so stupid. One review I read of it pretty much summed it up for me, I am paraphrasing but it said something like ‘The first 30 min of the film was to expose Carrie Anne Moss’ breast for all her geek fans and to say we’re so cool, we’re so coool’.
While once the movie got into the architect part it was pretty good, but you had to sit through a bunch of goofy stuff. Kinda like AOTC. 2 hrs of ‘blah’ for 15 – 20 min of excitement.
Three was an improvement, but after the let down of two it really knocked it down.

makes sense I guess… I see the differences too… but I was still impressed by the story and the action. I still say that the last two matrix movies beat most other movies released.

Man, that everlasting fight against Smith? What was the damn point? You
know you can’t win, and there’s a million of him. Why makes us sit through all
those tedious minutes, I was simply waiting for it to end. Sooooo bored…

Mostly awful. They totally blew. They had a chance to make it great and they screwed up. This might be worth renting for a weekend or something, but to buy…nah.

I actually loved the Smith fight scene in #2. Although it may have been pointless, it showed how much harder Neo had to fight to stay alive and save Zion. It also showed how his power had strengthened so he was able to take them on. And, it actually did make sense because it showed how Smith was beginning to take over the humans due to the multitude of Smiths and its growing. It was like there was more and more after every second, which showed how he was spreading through the system. The fight in #3 though, it was fantastically made, was really the bad one. All they did was fly around and punch and hit. There wasnt a serious fight going on, but merely a contest on who flew better.
And when Neo died, I didn’t understand it. If everyone who was turned into a Smith died, then no one would be alive. Same thing with all the Smith exploding. If that caused his death, then the humans would be dead too.
Well, anyway, I’d like to say they were all great movies. I’d like to give a shout out to my boy Seraph. I’ll be back.
