“The 4400” Discussion

From what I’ve seen online, this looks like the last
week for this miniseries. Does it end well? Am I
wrong about this?

  1. And Now for Somthing COMPLETELY diffrent – spoilers as per usual with my comments
So this show that seemed like a cross between taken and rising stars now seems to be a cross between time trax , quamtum leap, taken, and rising stars.

I do have to admit though: The revelation did actually supprise me (time traveling but in strange ways)

This may be the last episode of the mini-series but I would be shocked if this was not made into a series.

I still don’t understand the rich guy’s motivations.

Stealing the guy’s kid was all kinds of wrong …. even with the power that homeland security has …. so was that pulling a gun didn’t get the guy thrown in Jail INSTANTLY.

I forgot to mention last week how much I like the terrorist rights last week – it was a nice touch.

I wonder if the little girl is seeing the future or (given the new premise) is just REMEMBERING the future.

The mother’s reaction to the powers was also all kinds of wrong …. NO mother would have gotten angry at that …. maybe scared or somthing else but never regection. Heck he was being ATTACKED out of NOWHERE – not that he didn’t deserve more for being that stupid (see my coments last week)

It at least looks intresting …. hope to see more ….

In conclusion – this is the longest PILOT I have ever seen.

      Warning spoilers ahead…

I got that feeling too, it does seem like a pilot. But I feel it was a pretty good one at that. The bit with the trees bowing at the end is a huge unanswered question that leaves this wide open for a series. Is the kid supposed to be some kind of savior or something?

I also have to say it has a slight Twin Peaks sort of vibe to it.

I’m beginning to wonder if the one kid just wasn’t meant to be one of the 4400 and that’s why he’s having so much trouble. I also wonder if he was given his particular power specifically to revive his cousin.

        Is the show over?

Ah, how quickly they forget. What about V and V: The Final
      Battle
? A whopping five two Hour movie/events, leading
      into a series.

I hope the 4400 series doesn’t follow the trend that the V series set in terms
      of quality vs. the miniseries.
Although I’d love to see Michael Ironside in any role.

I don’t think I was born when V came out ….. therefore I could not have forgotten somthing I never remembered

I thought Rising Stars + Quantum Leap also, though I kept wanting to tell JMS to sue! Rising Stars is far better, but I think The 4400 is starting to differentiate itself. There doesn’t seem to be any "pooling" of power as the numbers dwindle, though there are far more "Returnees" than "Peterson Specials".
I was so set on the idea of aliens, that the future humans bit was a surprise. Unfortunately, I think mysterious, altruistic aliens make a better premise. Time travel almost inevitably leaves to many plot holes.

In conclusion – this is the longest PILOT I have ever seen.

      I can’t wait for more!

  2. Too Many Loose Ends
This had better be a pilot of the first of two miniseries, because this is all kinds of suck if that’s all we get!

I really enjoyed it and really want more.

It has in fact been picked up for an entire season as a regular series.

Am I the only one who feels that whole Shawn/Danny/Nikki thing should have been left on the Melrose Place cutting room floor where it belongs? And why, oh, why did they have to choose an actor so completely void of talent to play Shawn? He’s just awful.
