Weekly Comics Discussion

Another week, another list of new
comics
to tempt us. This week I succumb to
Daredevil #65 (Anniversary Edition),
Doctor Spectrum #2, and the Marvel 65th
Anniversary Edition
. I will manage to resist
the new 2099 set of one-shots, the Daredevil/Elektra
edition of the Official Handbook to the Marvel
Universe 2004, the first issue of a new Adam
Strange
miniseries, the first issue of a new
Catwoman miniseries, a new Superman: Man
of Tomorrow
Archive edition, and probably resist
Green Lantern #181, which (if I’ve been
counting correctly) is the final issue of Kyle’s
Green Lantern career and the final issue of the
current Green Lantern series.

One reply

  1. Green Lantern 181
Sort of. Green Lantern #181 is the final issue of Volume 3 of Green Lantern – the current series. Green Lantern: Rebirth will begin next month as a 6 (?) month mini-series. Presumably, this will lead to the Return of Hal Jordan as a Green Lantern, and a new series beginning with Green Lantern #1.

Kyle Rayner is already known to figure heavily into Rebirth, and is rumored to have a future in a new title – maybe a Green Lantern Corps type book, maybe something else. Hal Jordan will likely stick around Earth for a while, and John Stewart’s fate is unknown.

A footnote: Guy Gardner is featured in Identity Crisis as a green lantern, and is rumored to be returning to what passes for the GL Corps these days. This’ll be four prominent human Green Lanterns, which smells vaguely of overkill to me. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
