Things take a left turn into the fantastical when Locke’s backstory is revealed. Well acted and well written, I felt this was one terrific episode.

first time I watched the show. that was my findmuck for the week.
That was amazing.
I can only hope this is typical of how the rest of the season goes. You had amazement, pity, shock, and finally joy for one of the characters. That was one of the best shows I’ve seen, since “Out of Gas” (Firefly). If you have the opportunity and want to see what the show is capable of, watch this episode. Last week’s was great, this was better.

Since I got yelled at last time, link
It was good…
…but while it’s probably *possible* for a crash to create that result, I think it’s about as likely as that many people surviving a crash like that in the first place: virtually nil. I’m just waiting for the hue and cry about that…

It is getting pretty clear that these folks have crashed
on Twilight Zone Island. Even the characters are starting
to ask “where are we?”.
What has me going is why we haven’t seen anyone go walk
around the island. Stick to the beach and make a transit
once around. I’m assuming it is more for dramatic tension
reasons than practical reality. At this point they have
had the time, and the spare hands. At a minimum they
might find the tail section.

True

The tail section fell off while they were pretty high up, which means pretty far out, so it’s on the ocean floor…unless this really *is* the twilight zone.
I don’t think it is though — I think it’s more like the Island of Dr. Moreau. Depending on how they show whatsisface surviving The Big Thing they won’t show us…
As for walking around the island, I’ve never seen an island that big where that would be possible. There’s always rocks and cliffs somewhere, but you would think they’d be doing a little more exploring. On the other hand, in their world, I think it’s only been a couple days and they’re still getting themselves together — the expeditions they’ve already done are probably pushing it, and since they already know there’s “things” out there, that would put a damper on the urge to go off by yourself. I’ve already yelled at the tv a couple of times when people head off into the jungle on their own ;-)

Interesting. I hadn’t thought of Moreau, but that would be pretty cool. “You’ve just fallen into the back 40 of the Island of Old B-Movies. No one knows you are there. What are you going to do?”

I think they are going more or less 1 day = 1 episode. The doctor gave us a nice litte time check at the memorial service. He mentioned it was the 4th day on the island. I like a show that drops little details in like that without being heavy handed. He just worked it into a conversation about rescue.
It really does seem to be developing very naturally to me. Although I think they need to do something more with the “extras”. I’d hate to think they are just Bear fodder. :)
Wow.
This show gets better and better and creepier and creepier all at once.
Great stuff. Can’t wait to see more.
great episode
Lock’s story made it great.
so far it’s been a good show.
